Owner of Sweetgrass Livestock Co., Dr. Suzanne Genova, is a large animal veterinarian and animal chiropractor by trade. A Colorado native she has called Oklahoma home since 2001, with a brief 3 year absence while working in Texas and Mississippi. She has 3 degrees from OSU, making her a true Cowgirl.
Dr. Genova has been around hogs all her life. Her godparents had a large farrow to finish operation in the plains of Southeastern Colorado where she spent a large amount of time growing up. It was also a family tradition to feed out and butcher hogs every winter for the consumption by family and friends. In addition, she was active in 4-H and FFA showing pigs and cattle.
When not working her “day” job as owner of Red Dirt Veterinary Services, Dr. Suzanne can be found working around the farm, supporting the youth livestock industry, or feeding and showing hogs. She has been raising hogs in Oklahoma since 2016.
In 2021, Dr. Genova decided to bring back the family tradition of feeding out hogs for others to enjoy and Sweetgrass Livestock was formed.
Sweetgrass Livestock Co. is currently comprised of a small herd of purebred Yorkshire and registered Meishan sows and boars. All named of course!
